Advert – Call for Talent

We’re looking for a highly organised, values-driven Freelancer with expertise in Events, Communications and Networks to join the Regenerative Futures Fund, an exciting, radical funding initiative based in Edinburgh. This requirement is for 18 days of work in total, starting as soon as possible (August to December 2025) with a working pattern to be agreed.

What We're Looking For

You’ll bring experience and expertise in organising meaningful events and managing digital and in-person communications with a wide range of community groups, grassroots organisations, and partners. You’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, keeps a cool head under pressure, and has a strong sense of care, responsibility, and professionalism.

You’ll need to:

  • Have experience planning and coordinating events (in-person and/or online), including venue logistics, outreach, and follow-up.

  • Be confident in communicating with clarity, consistency, and professionalism.

  • Be tech-savvy: comfortable with Squarespace updates, newsletter creation and distribution, and basic Excel skills.

  • Be an excellent communicator with great attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Be responsive, extremely organised, able to manage competing priorities, and work independently.

  • Be based in Edinburgh and able to join meetings in the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) regularly.

Scope of Work: Freelance Events, Communications and Networks Support


Client: Regenerative Futures Fund/ Foundation Scotland
Location: Edinburgh Futures Institute, Edinburgh
Contract Type: Freelance/Interim
Total Budget: £6,300 (18 days at £350/day)
Duration: August – December 2025 (18 days total; working pattern to be agreed)
On-site Requirements: In-person presence required some weeks (travel not paid)

Overview

The Regenerative Futures Fund is a radical funding initiative working towards transformational systems change. It seeks to address poverty, racism, and the climate crisis through intersectional, community-led approaches. This freelance position will provide key support across events coordination, communications, and network building.

2. Objectives

  • Deliver effective, accessible, and values-driven communications and events.

  • Strengthen community and partner engagement.

  • Support the visibility and coordination of the Regenerative Futures Fund’s activities.

3. Key Requirements

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate both in-person and online events, including:

    • Venue logistics and setup

    • Attendee coordination and outreach

    • Event follow-up and documentation

Communications & Outreach

  • Maintain and update content on the Squarespace website.

  • Draft and distribute newsletters and email communications to community partners.

  • Ensure clarity, consistency, and professionalism in all communications.

Community & Network Engagement

  • Liaise with grassroots organisations, community groups, and partners.

  • Support visibility and storytelling efforts that centre lived experience and community leadership.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain digital records, mailing lists, and contact databases.

  • Use Excel or similar tools for basic data tracking and reporting.

  • Participate in regular check-ins with the Co-Heads and contribute to team planning.

4. Timeline

Start Date: August 2025
End Date: December 2025
Total Commitment: 18 days (flexible distribution across months)

5. Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience organising meaningful events with community groups.

  • Confident and professional communicator.

  • Skilled in basic digital tools (Squarespace, Excel, email marketing platforms).

  • Highly organised, responsive, and self-directed.

  • Based in Edinburgh and available for in person work.
