Residents Group

August update

Hello there,

There’s quite a lot of information here and we’re asking you for some responses so hopefully having it all in one place helps.

1. Illustrations for our annual report

The artist who drew the pictures for our website and flyers will be illustrating the Regenerative Futures Fund annual report and we would love to feature some drawings of you!

If you would like to have an illustration of you included in the report, Gabi can do this from a photo or from a physical description that you provide. We would also like to include something in your illustration that describes your time with the group so far - it could be something important to you about being part of the group - a croissant, a screen with lots of words on it! Let us know.

Please email your thoughts or picture to Andy and we’ll pass these on to Gabi.

2. Quotes for our annual report

In addition to pictures we would like to include some quotes from you about working as part of the group. If you would like to provide a sentence or two (anonymously) you can write something in the form below. You can write as many as you like! Just refresh the page to add another.

If you are finding it difficult to think of something you could use the following as prompt questions:

  • What have you learned?

  • How did you find the decision making process?

  • Have your priorities changed since being on the panel?

  • What has been the best part of being on the panel and why?

3. Funding themes

If you were at the meeting on 15th August, you’ll know that we are proposing to work as smaller groups as we move towards the more focussed funding decisions at the end of the year. Each of these themes will contain roughly one third of the 34 proposals that are relevant to the theme. This will mean that:

  • you will develop skills, knowledge and expertise in a particular area

  • you will have fewer project proposals to assess at the end

  • each of the projects you assess will be related to the theme that you have worked in

We will still come together as a larger group occasionally.

At the moment we have 3 draft themes - Just Futures, Community Voice and Environment.

We are yet to assign the projects to the themes but the categories we have used recently are linked to the them as follows:

This is all still to be agreed with the organisations involved. However, it would be helpful to know at this stage

  1. if you agree with this initial grouping

  2. which theme you would like to focus your work on

Please use the form below to let us know your thoughts about this model and your first and second choices for which theme you would like to focus on.

4. Expert sessions

Now that you have chosen your preferred themes, what would you like to learn more about and who from? At the moment we are planning the following sessions:

    • Ableism - the need for disability justice to be part of climate action

    • Poverty and housing - the factors that can lead to homelessness

    • Community Wealth Building - this is an approach to economic activity that prioritises wellbeing, putting people and planet over profit

    • Employment and poverty

    • The Education system and how it needs to work better for some children

    • The prison system and how families are affected by imprisonment

    • Refugee/Asylum experiences

    • Legal aspects of social justice

If you can think of any other areas you would like to learn about to help you in your theme, please let us know using the form below. Of course, you may not know this right now and you can tell us later.
